"We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him"
(1 John 4:16).
God wants true children with whom He can share true love and even share secrets like close friends. Such a child was Enoch in Genesis 5. He walked with God for 300 years and was caught up to heaven alive.
The God of love walks with those good men who become sanctified and achieve the heart of God as with Enoch. He even wants to reveal spiritual secrets to them. To what kind of persons did God reveal secrets and the future?
1. God let Noah know about the judgment of flood
In Genesis chapter 7, it poured for 40 days as if a hole had opened from heaven. The whole world was submerged in the water. All mountains were under the water and all moving things on the earth died. However, Noah, his family members, and animals in the ark survived. It was possible because Noah had prepared the ark for the flood.
How was Noah able to prepare the ark in advance? In passages beginning from Genesis 6:13, God told Noah there would be flood and all men and animals would be destroyed. He also commanded him to build an ark and taught him in detail what material he should use and how big it should be.
Then, why did the God of justice reveal the secret only to Noah and let him receive the grace of salvation? Genesis 6:9 reads, "These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God." The generations of Noah were full of evil and sin such that all people should be destroyed, but only Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time. That's why he could walk with God and receive His great love.
After the righteous man, Noah, learned about the great flood, he spread the news widely so that people could avoid the disaster. However, no one believed him. In the end, only Noah together with his family entered the ark and were saved from the flood and no one else received salvation. Since Noah was a blameless man in his time, he completely believed the Word of God and could obey it. God revealed the judgment of flood to him and planned a new start.
Noah's deeds were from his love for God. God also loved Noah very much. That is why God let him know the spiritual secrets beforehand.
2. God let Abraham know about the destruction of Sodom
James 2:23 reads, "And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, 'And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,' and he was called the friend of God." Abraham, the father of faith, was close enough to God to be called the friend of God. It is very glorious and overwhelming for a man who was a mere creature to be called the friend of God, who is the Creator of all universes and the Judge. It also tells us how much Abraham had achieved the heart of God.
God revealed the great catastrophe that would come upon Sodom and Gomorrah to His loving Abraham in advance. In those days, Sodom and Gomorrah were filled with sins and evil so God's judgment was inevitable according to justice. God also allowed Lot, who was Abraham's nephew, to know about it beforehand as well so that he could avoid the disaster.
It doesn't mean that Lot was qualified to know God's secrets, but God considered Abraham, whom He loved. He knew that it would break Abraham's heart if something bad happened to his nephew.
When God told Abraham to offer his only son as a burnt offering, and though Abraham gained his son at the age of 100 and he was more precious than his own life, he offered him without hesitation. God knew this heart of Abraham. He loved him and even revealed secrets to him.
3. Throughout each generation God worked through proper people
In the Old Testament time, many prophets such as Jeremiah, Amos, Hosea, and Micah heard about the judgment to come upon Israel and the nation's restoration in the future from the living God. They proclaimed it to people and all their prophecies were fulfilled as they were spoken.
The Bible prophesied about Jesus Christ who had been hidden before the ages from long ago and all the prophecies were accomplished. The 53rd chapter of Isaiah talks about how Jesus would come and says that Jesus would suffer due to men's sins and evil. It also prophesied that Jesus would die to redeem all men from their sins. Additionally, except for a few things that are still to occur, there are many prophecies in the Bible that have all been fulfilled no matter whether small or big.
Matthew 5:18 reads, "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished." As said, God's Word is surely fulfilled. The Bible also records things that are yet to happen, which are: the Lord's coming in the air, the Seven-year Tribulation, the Millennium Kingdom, and the Great White Throne Judgment.
The Lord's coming in the air, in particular, has been given great interest by believers in God since the Lord's resurrection and ascension. God revealed the Lord's coming in the air and signs of the time in many parts of the Bible.
Daniel 9:20-27 and Chapter 12 uncover the secrets of the end time such as things related to "seventy weeks". Daniel 12:4 says, "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." Just as prophesied in this Scripture, unlike the time of Daniel, many state-of-the-art means of transportation and mass media communications have been developed and knowledge has increased today beyond comparison to any other time.
The Apostle John also knew the deep things of the end time well enough to write the Book of Revelation in the Bible.
Revelation records the end time more specifically and in more detailed ways. In this way, God unveiled things that would happen at the end time to His beloved ones. Then, did God want future generations to be ignorant of the meanings of them? No, He didn't.
He allowed them to be written in the Bible so that future generations could understand their meanings and His will in them and act upon them. 2 Peter 1:20-21 reads, "But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."
Every prophecy of the Scripture was made in the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, so it should be interpreted in the inspiration of the Holy Spirit as well.
Then, what kind of man can interpret the sixty six books of the Bible in the inspiration of the Holy Spirit? He should be a man who is greatly loved by God. For such a man, God interpreted and explained the secrets recorded in the Bible in full details. Today, which is the end time, God still does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His beloved one (Amos 3:7).
4. Unless He reveals to His beloved one…
In the Bible, Jesus talked about things to come such as signs of the end time. When He went to the Mount of Transfiguration, for instance, He took only three disciples with Him. They were Peter, James, and John. He allowed them to see Him talk to Elijah and Moses. He told them not to tell anybody what they had seen until He rose from the dead. He trusted the three disciples more than any others, so He could show them the secret things.
God showed Apostle Paul Paradise and let him know ahead of time that he would be shipwrecked and what would happen when he arrived in Jerusalem. When he was about to leave for Asia to preach the gospel, God stopped him from going there through a vision and made him go to Europe instead.
Therefore, we should long to be a person who feels and understands God's heart with clear inspiration and be a person who can read the depth of His heart and who dwells perfectly in His love by resembling Him, knowing His love, and practicing His words completely. This kind of person abides in God and God in him as written in 1 John 4:16.
If there is such a person, why doesn't God reveal secrets that will happen? The reason God cultivates men on the earth is love. He wants more souls by any means to realize His true love and enter the love and reach salvation (2 Peter 3:9).
Noah foreknew that there would be great flood, and Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah knowing the judgment to come upon the cities. Just as they foreknew, shouldn't there be men of God who know about the end time, and are prepared to lead countless souls to salvation by proclaiming about the end time to the whole world?
We should be such people. God started human cultivation with love and is completing His work with love. We should become sanctified and fulfill the duties that God entrusted to us to fulfill His plan.
The most necessary thing for us to do is to love. Only with the power of love, is everything possible. When perfect love is accomplished in our hearts and we practice the love completely, we will gain the qualification to dwell in New Jerusalem.
Moreover, we can understand the secrets of the end time and be qualified to lead innumerable souls to the way of salvation.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, 1 John 4:16 reads, "We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."
We should be God's true children by abiding in God and letting Him abide in us. In other words, we should make His Words the bread of life in our hearts and practice the truth. By doing so, we can be the children of the Light. Then God can trust us completely and reveal spiritually deep secrets to us and share deep love with us.
I urge you to cast away every form of evil by all means and live perfectly according to the Word of God. I pray in the name of the Lord by doing so you will share deep love with God and walk with Him all the time.
