Deaconess Hak-gi Yoon (68 years of age, 2-7th Parish, 4-3rd Women's Mission)
Losing both parents in China and living a long and difficult life
In 1942, my parents and I left behind our hometown of Sun-san, Kyung-sang Buk-do for Shenyang, China. When both of my parents died prematurely, I got married at the age of 18. In 1968, just as I had turned 30, I lost my husband in an unexpected accident. After his death, I led a difficult life raising a son and a daughter. From extreme poverty and a variety of physical work I undertook, I constantly suffered from stress, migraine, vomiting, and when I was startled even a little, I felt the tightness around my heart. In addition, my stomach kept hurting after an operation on my spleen. The weaker I grew physically, the more and more I missed home. 'I'll go home now,' I thought to myself. 'There, I'll spend the rest of days in comfort.'
Finally coming home but still suffering
In 1991 and at the age of 53, I came back to my motherland after nearly half a century. Against my hopes and plans, however, difficulties continued. While working at a restaurant one time, I fell and had to walk with a limp. A little later, I collapsed while coming down a flight of stairs and the excruciating pain in my ankles constantly kept me up at night. When my eyesight deteriorated rapidly, I went to the hospital for an evaluation. I was diagnosed with cataract and first operated on my left eye. When a lump was discovered in my uterus, I had to schedule a date for another operation. As I saw my room full of all kinds of medication whose names I didn't even know and myself utterly broken, I wasn't sure if there had ever been any happy moments in my life.
'They say there is heaven. I'll believe in Jesus and live a comfortable life.'
Then my younger sister, Deaconess Sook-ja Yoon, who had been leading a life in Christ at a Manmin branch church in China, visited me in Korea and preached the gospel to me with Rev. Doo-chun Shin in charge of the "Chinese Grand Parish."
"Heaven surely exists and it's such a beautiful place without tears, grief, or torment. When you have faith, you can be healed of any diseases!"
I then thought to myself, 'They say there is heaven, a place without tears, grief, or torment. I'll believe in Jesus and live a comfortable life there!' and joined Manmin Joong-ang Church. Upon first coming to Manmin in April 2004, the magnificent main sanctuary and the performances of the choir and the Nissi Orchestra made me feel like I was already in heaven. The message of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee was teeming with grace and gave me true comfort.
'Why have I come so late to such a wonderful church?!'
Afterwards, I made every effort to live by God's Word and strove to spread the news of the Living God to people who found themselves in a similar situation as mine. I am still thankful to this day for the thoughtful consideration of the Senior Pastor, who has provided for Chinese parish members "The House of Holiness," a place where Chinese parish members could have fellowship and rest with one another.
Receiving healing of cataract and other diseases
In May 2004 was "The 12th Two-week Special Revival Meeting with Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee." I attended the Meeting where I saw countless people testifying to their healing after receiving Rev. Dr. Lee's prayer.
'I'm going to receive God's healing by faith!'
I'd been working as a maid but I quit the job so that I could attend the Revival Meeting every day. In fervent prayer, I asked for healing as I stopped taking all the medication and offered God all the money I had been saving for my operation. During the second week of the Revival Meeting, Rev. Dr. Lee prayed for the sick from the pulpit.
"All kinds of diseases, go away! Let God's light shine here!"
The moment I received his prayer, I felt as though my back had caught on fire and I soon began experiencing all kinds of miraculous things. I could begin to see objects clearly through my right eye that had been so dim because of cataract. Furthermore, the vomiting and the cardiac disorder I felt each morning, as well as the lump in my uterus had all disappeared. Hallelujah!
My lachrymal glands have opened for the first time in 51 years!
In gratitude for God's grace, I began fervently praying for the Senior Pastor who continue to proclaim the Word of life and my family members. Then I had another wondrous experience. One day in December 2004, I attended a district prayer meeting and the parish pastor prayed for me with the handkerchief on which the Senior Pastor had prayed. The Holy Spirit set my body on ablaze as I began rending my heart in repentance and shed tears without knowing when to stop. I was dumbfounded when I couldn't shed tears at the funerals of my parents and husband years earlier, but I realized that for the first time in 51 years, my lachrymal glands opened. I was also perfectly healed of arthritis in both of my legs. That night, for the first time in a very, very long while, I could sleep comfortably without waking up even once.
The blessing of birth for my son and daughter-in-law
I always thought of ways to pay God back for giving me healing free of charge as well as hopes for heaven. I soon found the answer in distributing the copies of Manmin Joong-ang News so that countless people being tormented in this world from disease could be healed and saved. I also testified the God I met to my family members and relatives whenever I met with them. God was delighted with my faith and blessed my family with evangelization, and my son, daughter, nieces, granddaughters, and even in-laws who had witnessed my healing joined Manmin Joong-ang Church. Furthermore, while my son Soo-duk Jeon and his wife had been childless for the first three years of their marriage, they received the blessing of birth after receiving prayer from the Senior Pastor. They gave birth to a healthy girl last December. I give all thanks and glory to my Father God for showing me His infinite love and healing me of all kinds of diseases, and also express my deepest appreciation to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for his earnest prayer.
