Sister Hanbit Lee (Senior in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, 3rd Young Adults' Mission)
In June, 1989, I was born in the 8th month of pregnancy and I weighed only 1.8kg (3.9lb). I was kept in an incubator for a while. I was told that I had gone through near-death experiences several times but I was healed by God's grace after my mother, Senior Deaconess Kwangbun Kim, had repented of her perfunctory Christian life with tears. The following year, she registered in Manmin Central Church and I grew up listening to Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee's sermons and witnessing and experiencing his powerful works.
Passed the preliminary national bar exam only by faith
In February 2008, I entered Hankuk University of Foreign Studies as a student of Department of Law. My father, Brother Ilho Lee, advised me to take bar exam so I started to prepare for it in December 2009. I submitted an application for a leave of absence from school in 2010. But it was a period when 'Law School' was closely modeled on the American post-graduate system. It was initially approved and opened in Korea and it reduced the number of selectees that had existed through the pre-existing bar exam. So, I had to reconsider my goal and think about my situation. But I finally decided to prepare for the bar exam. Now that I started it, my situations were not that good. I couldn't listen to famous lecturers' classes or online lectures due to my family's economic situation. I bought cassette tapes of the lectures in a second-hand bookshop, so I had no choice but to learn at a slower speed than the other students who prepared for the same test. However, I didn't complain about it nor feel any discomfort. I was convinced that I can achieve anything when God is with me, so nothing bothered me. I studied by day and by night listening to as many as ten cassette tapes a day including the lectures on basics of Constitutional Law, Civil Law, and Criminal Law, studies on judicial precedents, and lectures on mock tests and sample questions from previous tests. As a result, in April 2011, I passed the 53rd preliminary national bar exam. I felt so thankful for the love of God who had watched and encouraged me.
Finally passed the national bar exam
I came to have confidence since the result of the preliminary test was better than expected, so I took the second-round bar exam in June 2011. But I failed because it was too short time to be well-prepared. From then, God blessed me and controlled all my situations so that I could be focused only on study. In November 2011, I had already passed the first-round exam. So, without any procedures to join it, but on the advice of the group's chief director, I could join 'Euihyangjae' that is a preparatory group for the bar exam organized by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. By joining it, I had opportunities to gain a lot of information concerning the test and study know-how. Also, my school provided me with a studio apartment near school to help me save time that had been spent in commuting. My school also offered me lecture books for free so I could prepare for the second-round test without financial burden. In June 2012 when I had less than one month left until the second-round test, I received Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer for the final preparation. Then, to my surprise, my learning performance was improved and I came to concentrate on my studies even better than before. I studied eight to nine hours a day or even ten hours as the test date was drawing near. In the meantime, I learned patience and perseverance and came to be sure that I could make it. Also, Dr. Lee's book Keys to Studying Well played an important role in improving my learning ability. While preparing for this, I also studied hard for my school exams and received a scholarship for outstanding students. Eventually, the day came. The test was under way for four days from June 27 through June 30 in 2012. The second-round test consists of essay questions. I wrote so much that I filled the whole test paper on every subject. Then, God let me know I passed the test through two dreams. One is a dream where my name and examinee slate number were on a placard of the list of successful examiners' names. The other dream was receiving three text messages that announced my success on the tests. On October 19, 2012, the result came out and it showed I passed the test. At the moment, I said, "God, thank You!" and the face of Dr. Lee, who had prayed for me, came to my mind. On November 13, I had an interview which is the 3rd and final round of the whole process. Then, on November 21, the final successful examinees' list came out. I could clearly see my name 'Hanbit Lee!' there. Hallelujah!
The love of God who guided my way
I could make it all because of the grace of God and His love. In late 2011 and in early 2012, my Parish Pastor and Grand Parish Pastor let me realize the importance of prayer during their visit. Afterwards, I attended Daniel Prayer Meeting via the internet in the midst of busy schedule. Then, I came to be more confident and it caused learning improvement. I memorized a verse of the Bible and read a chapter each day. Also, I read a chapter of Proverbs. By doing so, I tried hard to gain wisdom and understanding from the Bible. I started studying every morning by receiving Dr. Lee's prayer for the day. I listened to God-given Manmin Praise when I was tired. Then, tiredness was gone away and my mind was cleared. I also enjoyed good health all the time. People around me recommended me to come to school even on Sunday and study from early morning. But I kept whole Sabbath even when the test was just around corner and I even attended the Mini Crusade Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee led for students after Sunday Evening Service. In the crusade, Dr. Lee always urged us to keep our faith in this dark world full of sin and evil and become God's holy child. He also didn't forget to give gift cards to all students, from elementary school students to college students. Manmin students were moved by Dr. Lee's gentle love, which caused rapid spiritual change among students. I also gave thanks for his love and had a burning enthusiasm. 'I will pass the bar exam and please Senior Pastor!' From March, 2012, I will enter the Judicial Research and Training Institute, Korea and be trained for two years to become a professional in the society of law. I had a dream that I would put a judge's robe on the Senior Pastor. I've imagined it several times. I will study hard with a goal to be officially commissioned first and become a source of strength for church and the shepherd. I give all thanks and glory to God the Trinity.
