"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father." (John 14:12)
Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee
Jesus existed in the form of God, but came to this earth in flesh. He performed a number of powerful works to fulfill His duty as the Savior. He manifested the works of creation by turning water into wine and performed the works controlling life by reviving the dead. He healed a paralytic transcending time and space and He walked on the water by using the spiritual space.
Even today, our living God still wants countless people to experience His powerful works and to possess true hearts and perfect faith. That's why God let us know that not only the powerful works He had performed before, but after Jesus' crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension even greater works than the previous works would unfold.
'Power' means God's power that is coupled with His authority. In other words, it refers to all spiritual authority and power of God who governs the heavens and earth and all things in them and He controls the ministry of human salvation. It is the power that makes miracles that can't be understood by human common sense happen through God's abilities.
The power of God the Creator is never-ending. Then, what kinds of these works of power are taking place today?
1. The Works of Creation
To create something means to make nonexistent things exist for the first time. It is the power of creation God performed when He created heavens and earth and all things in them with His Word.
The work of changing water into wine in John chapter 2 falls under this category, the works of creation. Jesus was invited and went to a wedding. It was at this time that the wine ran out and Virgin Mary asked for Jesus' help. He told the servants to fill water pots with water, draw some out, and take it to the headwaiter. At that time, He didn't command with words, "Water, become wine." When He just harbored His desire in His heart, the water in the six water pots turned into tasty wine immediately.
God still shows the works of creation without ceasing. On March 4 in 2000, I was in Seoul and asked God in prayer to change salty sea water into sweet drinkable water in Muan. The next day, on March 5, the answer was given. Actually, Muan Manmin Church members suffered from the lack of fresh drinking water because the church was on an island surrounded by the sea. The church members asked for my prayer thinking of the incident that had happened at Marah during the Israelites' Exodus. As my mountain prayer and the church members' faith fulfilled God's justice, such an amazing work of creation was able to take place.
2. The Works Controlling Life
The power of God can restore life to the dead and remove life from the living. It applies to all things with life including plants and animals.
In Numbers chapter 17 the sprouting of Aaron's rod is recorded. The rod of dead wood sprouted, put forth buds, produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds all within about a day. Jesus said to a fig tree with no fruit in Matthew 21:19, "No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you." At once the fig tree withered. This is also a work of God who controls life.
As written in John chapter 11, Jesus revived Lazarus whose corpse already had a stench for he had been dead four days. In fact, Lazarus was already at the state where his rotten flesh and bones had to be renewed as well as his spirit had to return to his body. Likewise, through the power of God something that seems impossible to be recovered in fleshly ways can be recovered.
Brother Gunwi Park, one of the church members, had lost eyesight in his left eye completely but regained his sight. He had surgery for cataract in his left eye at the age of three. Afterwards he suffered from uveitis and the detachment of the retina resulting from the after-effects of surgery. Retinal detachment is a disorder of the eye in which the retina peels away from its underlying layer of support tissue, leading to vision loss and blindness. Moreover, he also had the shrinking of eyeball. Eventually, he became totally blind in his left eye by 2006.
But in July, 2007, he received my prayer and his left eye regained vision. The left eye hadn't been able to even sense light, but the vision became 0.1 after the prayer. The shrunken eyeball was recovered to normal. Not only this, but the right eyesight also got better from 0.1 to 0.9.
It is the same with other internal organs and nerves. With the power of God, nerves damaged due to accidents and diseases, dead cell tissues, and physical disabilities are made normal. The same applies to cancer, AIDS, tuberculosis, colds, and fever, and other diseases caused by germs and viruses.
3. The Works Transcending Time and Space
In Matthew chapter 8 a centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant who was paralyzed. Jesus was about to go with him and heal the servant. But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed." Jesus replied, "Go, it shall be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed that very moment.
The paralyzed servant was far distant from Jesus yet the servant was healed right away as Jesus just spoke the words. The centurion could receive such a blessing because he showed complete faith in Jesus. Jesus praised his faith saying, "I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel."
Both Sister Cynthia in Pakistan who had been dying of celiac disease and Lysanias in Israel dying of a virus came to life through the transcending-time-and-space prayer.
Missionary Robert Johnson from the USA couldn't walk due to severe pain caused by a ruptured Achilles tendon. After he received the prayer transcending time and space, he was completely healed. This is the work of power transcending space and time. The extraordinary works manifested through handkerchiefs recorded as in Acts 19:11-12 are also included in this group.
4. The Work Making Use of Spiritual Space
Acts chapter 8 recorded Deacon Philip's movement through space. It is the work making use of spiritual space. He was on the way from Jerusalem to Gaza according to the Spirit's instruction. At that time, he encountered an Ethiopian eunuch. Deacon Philip preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to the eunuch and baptized him in the water. But suddenly he, who had been in the wilderness of Gaza, found himself at Azotus.
This was possible because he was transported instantaneously. Namely, he used the spiritual passage. When the time flow stops in the passage, men can be transported across any distance instantaneously. Through the spiritual passage, the weather also can be controlled.
Let's say one area is stricken by drought and the other by flooding. The problems in the two areas can be solved when the rainy clouds in the flood-stricken area are moved to the drought-stricken area through the spiritual passage. When a typhoon (hurricane) is moved to another place where nobody lives it won't cause any harm to people. Volcanic eruptions and earthquakes as well as typhoons can be prevented by making use of the spiritual spaces. When their places of origin are covered by the spiritual space they can be blocked.
Moving stars, rapid appearance and disappearance of clouds, various kinds and shapes of rainbows, and sudden appearance of dragonflies that our Manmin members have seen and experienced during summer retreat and other events, all of these things are works that take place in the spiritual space. However, all these works are manifested only when God's justice is met. This is because God the Almighty who governs all heavens is God of both love and justice.
