If you were thirsty and afloat on the sea could you drink the seawater? Of course, you shouldn't. The seawater would make you even thirstier. In this world that is like a watery wilderness, there are many things that can give you worldly pleasure and many people pursue them at any cost. But these things can't be satisfied any more than thirst can be satisfied with sea water. The Word of God that is water of eternal life is only source of true satisfaction and joy because only God's Word teaches us the truth and leads us to eternal life (Amos 8:11).
