Sheep have such keen and sensitive hearing that they are easily startled and run just by a low rustling sound. Yet they recognize the voice of their shepherd who protects them very well. We hear a lot of sounds in our daily lives. Some sounds are worthless and meaningless such as backbiting and idle gossip. In contrast, what are the sounds that give us life? They are the blessed sounds of the Word of God, prayer, praise, and testimonies that people give who have met the living God. These blessed sounds lead our souls to green pastures and beside quite waters just as the voice of the shepherd leads and protects his sheep from dangers.
