In most churches today the elderly generation is conducting the affairs of the church. This is attributable to declining fertility rates and dwindling numbers of students and young adults in society. Many churches have a declining number of young people. School age students and young adults who are busy preparing for college entrance exams or looking for a job have simply abandoned the church due to the realities of life.
However, in Manmin Central Church there are many young people who praise and pray fervently during Sunday Services; Friday All-night Service (held from 11 P.M. till 4 A.M. the following day); and even Daniel Prayer Meeting every night.
In 2010, they even voluntarily conducted the 'New Jerusalem Campaign' where they cut themselves off from the worldly culture and grew up in faith through the Word and prayer. In addition, they play pivotal roles in many parts of the church and prepare themselves to work for the church when it goes forth out to the world in earnest. They came to have such spiritual faith because they have witnessed many signs, wonders, and powerful works that had been manifested by Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer.
Brother Jungtaek Lee recounted, "I almost died on the 63rd day after my birth because, through the airway, a big grape lodged in my lung. My heart stopped twice. I was too young to have an operation. There was nothing my doctor or parents could do, but I was revived by Dr. Lee's prayer that was recorded on the Automated Response System."
Brother Lee is remembered by many church members as a 'grape boy'. He turns 20 in 2015. When he was discharged from hospital, his doctor was apprehensive believing he would have convulsive symptoms and physical disabilities. But he grew up very healthily. He will enter the prestigious Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology this year. He hasn't forgotten the grace of God who revived him, so he desires to spread the Word of the living God by becoming a professor in the field of science.
Sister Hayoung Ku, age 20, a member of Korean Traditional Dance Team of Performing Arts Committee, recently experienced great love of the Lord and has prepared herself to show the beauty of Heaven through Korean traditional dance to people of the whole world.
When she was conceived, she had a high risk of deformity. But her mother, Senior Deaconess Sunhwa Kang received Dr. Lee's prayer and she was born normal. While practicing for the performance test for entry to college in October 2014, she fell a few days before her test. She was bruised and had a ligament injury. The doctor in hospital told her to wear a cast and not to use the arm. But she was healed after receiving Dr. Lee's prayer that was aired in the GCN program 'Reminiscence'. Then she performed well in the test and was admitted by the college.
Not only young people in Korea but also many in overseas branch churches have experienced the power of God, attained sincere faith, and tried hard to achieve their God-given dreams.
Brother Santhosh, age 22, in Chennai Manmin Church in India was born with congenital malformations of the esophagus. He had hard time taking in food so he was a skinny, small framed boy. He used to be a bit slow-witted so his family worried about him. After he attended Chennai Manmin Church, however, he was healed of malformations of the esophagus and even received wisdom from above to enter a good university.
He has been devoted to many volunteer works in church. He said, "I want to study law after college graduation and become a lawyer. I want to be great help to the church financially and help our poor and neglected neighbors."
At the age of seven, Sister Cynthia of Pakistan, now age 23, was suffering from bowel obstruction and celiac disease—an autoimmune disorder in which the body mistakenly reacts to gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye, as if it were a poison. At her critical moment Dr. Lee prayed on her picture and she was completely healed. She is now studying medicine in an elite medical college in Lahore. She wants to become a medical witness of God's power by joining WCDN's ministry (World Christian Doctors Network).
Brother Arnol Molina, age 22, President of Young Adults' Mission of Peru Manmin Church was set free from game addiction and healed of lung and neck pain by Dr. Lee's prayer for the sick during a worship service. Brother Arnol desires to become a missionary who testifies to the living God. To be used for the kingdom of God, he has studied the Word of God and Portuguese and helped Pastor Lazarus J. Lee who is ministering to Peru Manmin Church.
Many young people in addition to these have been renewed by the power of the living God both in spirit and body and they are now living day by day with fullness of God-given hope, the hope of spreading the love of God to countless people in the world who wander without knowing how to fill their empty hearts.
"Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power; in holy array, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew" (Psalm 110:3).
