In the 2012 Summer Bible School, children were filled with happiness through the messages, prayer, praise, Manmin Children's Performing Arts Competition, the Power Jesus Worship and Praise, Fullness of the Spirit Prayer Meeting, the time to take the cross and pass through the pearl gate. It made children feel close to God- who is spirit- and realize the process of cultivating the heart of spirit.
From July 29 to August 1 in 2012, the Children's Sunday School (Principal Pastor: Sungsik Chang) had its Summer Bible School in Manmin Central Church.
Because the Summer Bible School was broadcast live via GCN TV (www.gcntv.org), the members of branch churches world-wide could watch it. And children not only in Seoul but also from Wonju, Gyeongju, Gumi, Eastern Gwangju, Muan, Chuncheon, Ansung, Seosan, Tongyeong, and Pohang Manmin Churches participated in the Bible School.
For the opening service on the first day, Pastor Dongcho Shin delivered the message under the title of "Spirit" taken from Proverbs 4:23. He said that people with the heart of spirit can do anything once they make up their minds; they have the same attitude whether someone sees them or not; and they always live in the Word of God.
On the second day, Pastor Soojin Lee preached the message with the title "Let's Cast off Greed" taken from James 1:15. She stated when we get rid of desire to have more and receive more love we can have a beautiful heart that can share things with others and rejoice with the truth together.
In the afternoon, children had the Bible Study time, talent shows, and Pilgrim's Progress with friends in the same grade. Sister Woorim Son from Muan Manmin Church said, "The 4th graders including me invited Elder Sungku Chung to our meeting and we heard about the spiritual world. Listening to his message, I came to hate Hell very much, but I felt so good about Heaven and I wanted to live there forever."
On the third day, in the morning, children had the 5th Children's Performing Arts Competition. After the opening performances, given by Manmin Children's Marching Band and Angel Worship Team of Muan Manmin Church, the competition started with Jooeun Gang and Dayung Kim as MCs. Children showed their talents with various performances including singing in solo, duet, and chorally; various dancing routines; demonstrations of Taekwondo; and a trumpet instrumental presentation, etc.
The Grand Prize went to Sister Nayung Gu who sang in the Korean traditional style. The Golden Prize went to Sister Haeun Shin, Silver Prize to Aroma of the Lord Mission- that danced beautifully, and the Bronze Prize to the Power Junior Team that performed Taekwondo with dance. The Popularity Prize went to Hallelujah Brass Band who played a trumpet quintet. Additionally, the Fruit Prize, Rainbow Prize, Blessing Prize, Aurora Prize, and Serem Prize were given.
In the afternoon, 'Power Jesus' presentation was held with Pastor Heesun Lee. She preached the message about how to accomplish the heart of spirit in our real lives and attendees had a time of repentance. She also led a time of praise that was full of the Spirit. Children gave thanks to the Lord who gives us Heaven and glorified God.
On the last day, on August 1, Mrs. Boknim Lee, president of Manmin Prayer Center, led the 'Fullness of the Spirit' Prayer Meeting. Mrs. Lee explained about the heart of spirit and the heart of the flesh and led in a time to increase hope for Heaven through praise and prayer followed by individually carrying a replica of the cross and passing through a 'Gate of Pearl'. In the afternoon, each grade's mission had various events like 'the Golden Bell' and a Bible Verse Contest.
In services, teachers led praise filled with the Spirit. They ran all programs with the grace even in the hot weather. Guidance teachers and directors offered helping hands in many ways.
Many believers and parents helped throughout the program as assistant teachers and volunteering for many works like ushering, cooking, and cleaning the lodging facilities of branch churches' children.
Parents felt proud of their children who were growing up by the grace of God. Deaconess Yusoon Yeop, Vice President of Teachers' Association said, "Speakers prepared abundant spiritual food for children, so I've heard that children became nicer and lovelier in the Summer Bible School."
