"I Want to Study Well Leading a Proper Life of Faith"
At 10 AM on January 19, students were studying in the English vocabulary class (basic and intermediate level) at the sixth sanctuary. "Since I know what the Senior Pastor expects from our students, I decided to teach them. These days I enjoy checking students' homework," says the teacher Deacon Jacob Lee.
"We are Finding Interest in Studying"
To improve his grades at school, Brother Sang-gyu Lee, a third year student of the Middle School Mission, has been attending the English and Math Winter Classes which have been held since December 28, 2009 at the Newcomers' Welcoming Room and the sixth sanctuary. Now it's been 4 weeks since the class started, and little by little he is finding more interest in English and overcoming the thought that 'English is difficult.' Another achievement was that he realized the importance of preparation in studying math. Sister Chan-ye Hong, who will be entering middle school this year, said, "The class is very interesting because the teachers teach with God's word, and they answer our questions more kindly than outside teachers." And Brother Jong-won Won, a student in the first year of the High School Mission who wasn't able to find any interest in studying said that he was developing an interested in studying and that he is satisfied with the fact he decided to attend the class. Explaining how he started the class, Pastor Timothy Kim, President of Students' Sunday School told us, "We started these classes through the concern and prayers of Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee. I hope that our students will try their best both in their studies and in their lives in faith by not neglecting either of them. That way they will be able to grow and mature into a competent Christians who will have a good influence on society." The English teachers are Deacon Jacob Lee and Deacon Jeffery Cho. They are both working in the Translation Bureau of our church. Deaconess Eunjung Um, who is a math teacher in an academy, teaches math. The English and math classes will be held from 8 AM to 11:30 AM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 8:00 AM to 10:50 AM on Tuesday and Thursday until January 29th. In addition, for the students who attend the Daniel Prayer Meeting, the Newcomers' Welcoming Room is used as a 'self-study room' from 10 PM to 11:30 PM every night. The Students' Sunday School will be offering a Special Saturday Praise Service for 3 consecutive weeks on the 16th, 23rd and 30th of January in celebration of the New Year. Each mission is preparing special songs for the service in the hope of God's guidance throughout the year.
