The 2009-2010 New Year's Service
We dedicated the first moments of the New Year during the New Year's Service with looking back on last year. It took place from 11 PM on Thursday, December 31, 2009 to 4 AM on Friday, January 1, 2010. This service was attended both locally by Korean and overseas members as well as from around the world through GCN and the Internet live-broadcasting. In the first part of this service Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee proclaimed a message titled "Flow of Spirit" (Deuteronomy 28:1), and in the second part each Manmin member recorded their three prayer topics for the Year 2010 and received Dr. Jaerock Lee's benediction. During the third part, members of Performing Arts Committee glorified God with praise, worship and musical performances in accordance with the church's general prayer topics praying for the blessing during the New Year.
The Christmas Celebration Service and Men's Mission's Meeting with Senior Pastor
The 2009 Christmas Celebration Service was offered under the title 'Christmas' in the main sanctuary at 11 PM on December 25. Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee preached based on the Scripture from Luke 2:13-14, "I expect that you come forth as true fruit by realizing God's love that gave us salvation, the best love and the eternal heaven." On the same day at 2 PM, there was a meeting with Senior Pastor under the auspice of Men's Mission in the main sanctuary.
Pointed out 'Fallacy of Evolutionism' at the Creationism Forum
The 8th Creationism Forum was held under the auspice of Creation Mission belonging to WCDN in the sixth sanctuary at 5:30 PM on last December 20, 2009. Deacon Seungsik Kim, Ph. D. of physics, pointed out the fallacy of the Miller-Urey Experiment which is used by evolutionists to explain the origin of life through spontaneous generation. And Deacon Lyon Hoyeon Kim, President of Creation Mission made a presentation under the title "Science or Myth?" and supported the creationism by pointing out the fallacy of 'Tree Diagram of the Divergence of Species' that Charles Darwin argued in his book, The Origin of Species.
English and Math Class Open during Winter Vacation
From Monday December 28, 2009 Winter Vacation English and Math Classes are held in the sixth sanctuary and the 'Newcomers' Welcoming Room' with the help and support of the 'Students' Sunday School.' The classes are opened five days a week for 5 weeks until January 29, 2010. The subjects are Basic English, Intermediate English and Basic Math. Jeffrey Cho and Jacob Lee, from the Translation Bureau of our church, teach English and Deaconess Eunjung Um, who is working as a math teacher at an academy is in charge of the mathematics classes.
